Boil (Pigsa)

Boil, also known as Pigsa in Tagalog word, is caused by infection of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus wherein the result of pain in a swollen area on the skin. It is also caused by an accumulation of pus and dead tissue.

One of the signs and symptoms of Boils are: (1) it is bumpy red, (2) the pus-filled lumps around a hair follicle (warm and painful), (3) experience fever, (4) swollen lymph nodes, and (5) fatigue.

If the person has Boil (or Pigsa) should use antibiotic cream or antiseptic tea tree oil to cover the furuncle. Draining of boils by application of cloth soaked into the warm salt water. The patient should not squeeze the furuncle without consulting a medical practitioner to avoid the spreading of the infection and also, it is cut and drain by a medical practitioner so that it will not leads to a serious complication.

Don’t need to be drained in order to heal the boil. If the infected area opens, it will cause further infections. It is advice to have an antibiotic therapy for a large or those occur in sensitive areas.

Be sure to consult a medical professional to avoid serious infection!
